Public procurement in 2026 in numbers

Public procurement in 2026 in numbers is our overview of all contract notices published on TenderNed in 2026, from 1 January up to the reference date, taken from TenderNed open data.

We update these figures every working day. The final annual edition for 2026 will be published in January 2027.

We are building these figures from TenderNed open data. They appear here as soon as we have checked all contract notices of 2026 against TenderNed.

How we count

  • Source: the public publication service of TenderNed, the Dutch government platform for public tenders. The data is open data under CC-0. We only read it; we do not scrape web pages.
  • What counts: contract notices (TenderNed type AAO). Corrigenda, award notices, prior information notices, market consultations and modifications do not count, so a tender is counted once.
  • Period: publication date from 1 January 2026 up to and including the reference date, which is the last full day (Dutch time) before the update.
  • European or national, type of contract and procedure are fields TenderNed gives with each notice. We show a breakdown only when the field is filled for at least 95% of the notices, and state the coverage when it is below 100%.
  • Sector: from the main CPV code of the notice (the code TenderNed marks as main contract). Each tender counts in one sector, based on its main CPV code. An integrated facility management contract counts under facility services, construction also covers civil engineering (groundworks, roads and hydraulic works), and telecom is not part of ICT. Which codes belong to which sector is explained on each sector page.
  • Contracting authorities: the name as TenderNed gives it. Departments of one organisation count separately. We show organisations only, never contact persons.
  • Completeness: we compare our count with the number of contract notices in the TenderNed list for the same period. We only show figures when at least 99% of the notices are in, and sector figures only when the main CPV code of at least 99% is known.
  • Not on TenderNed: tenders below the thresholds that are awarded privately or by multiple quotation are often not published, so they are not in these figures.

What we leave out, and why

  • The weighting of price and quality: it is not a field in the open data, only in the documents. We do not read it from free text and we do not estimate it.
  • Estimated contract value: TenderNed gives it only in the notice PDF and often not at all. An average would not be reliable.
  • Winners and number of bids: these come from award notices, not from contract notices. They are outside this overview.
  • Contact persons and other personal data: we do not store them and do not show them.

TenderNed publishes its own annual statistics and sector reports. They count differently (for example a different set of CPV codes per sector), so their numbers can differ from ours. TenderNed datasets

Per sector

Each sector page shows the same figures for that sector, with what buyers typically ask for.
